We are so happy and proud to say that Matt has been offered his dream job. He will be teaching Sophomore Biology at Newport Harbor High School in the Fall! Newport is both Matt and my Alma Mater as well as the school Matt has coached Varsity Football at for the past 10 years. It's also the high school my father and grandparents went to, as well as where our kids will most likely attend! So obviously, Newport has always been and will always be a big part of our lives. Matt got his degree in Biology and decided to become a teacher because of our Sophomore Biology teacher at Newport, Bob Hailey.
It is bittersweet for Matt to leave Portola Middle School - where he's been for the past 4 years. The administration, faculty, and students have been so great. But I know he is excited to be teaching high school, be teaching Biology rather than Physics, and be only 3 minutes from our house! No more commute on the freeway everyday. Our church and the girls' preschool is literally right across the street from Newport Harbor. So it will be easy to visit Daddy for lunch or have him run across the street when it's their share days. Now he will be on the same vacation schedule as the girls - and maybe even one day be their teacher. Not sure if they will think that's so special when they are 16, but at least he can keep an eye on the boys they want to date! We are looking forward to the upcoming school year and football season.

I couldn't be happier for you guys. Matt deserves his dream job, that's for certain!
Congrats!! Is Mr. House still there? I personally always liked him better than Mr. Hailey anyway, and he was still a cool biology teacher.
