Sicky Update

I believe (pray) both Molly and Wyatt are on the mend. We have been vomit free for almost 24 hours! Yesterday at the Pediatrician, Molly had lost almost 2 pounds. He said it was unusual for a child her age to be throwing up for more than 2 days. He was worried she would continue to lose weight and become dehydrated. SO - he gave her a shot of anti-nausea medication. Hello??!! I didn't even know something like that was possible. Otherwise I would have had her in there Saturday night! He said it would probably make her drowsy. To just let her sleep and then begin giving her clear liquids as she asked when she awoke. Before we were even home from the Drs. office she was passed out! She slept for almost 5 hours. By bedtime her fever had broke, and she had managed to keep down toast, rice, applesauce and some 7-Up! A vast improvement considering she wasn't even keeping down pedialite earlier in the morning. He also gave her a throat culture - due to the rash on her torso. The vomiting might be a side effect of a strep infection. We call later this morning to find out the results of the culture. But already the rash is gone and she is asking for waffles, so I think we are in the clear!!

Wyatt hasn't gotten sick again since yesterday morning, but he is still running a temperature and refuses to eat anything - other than nursing. Even his most favorite baby food - Bananas Apples & Pears! When I put the spoon to his mouth, he just purses his lips and shakes his head NO! By my third attempt he swats the spoon away. He however is NOT losing weight. At the Drs. yesterday he had gained 2 pounds since his last visit! Thank goodness he still loves to nurse. I know it is keeping him hydrated!

Since my kids got sick, I have learned from several of my girlfriends that something YUCKY is going around! I have talked to 4 other moms who have kids home with the same symptoms.

Thanks for all the good thoughts and encouragement yesterday! You can only clean up throw up so many times before you start to need a big pat on the back! Here are my two sickys in the car after the Drs. appt yesterday. Molly is seriously asleep with that sad, sad look on her face! My poor little girl. Glad we are over that hump!
