I saw this on a blog awhile back (I forget where) and it made me laugh.
"Teach a girl about fabric and she'll drown in it.
Teach a girl to sew, and she'll at least keep her head above the pile!"
I am FOR SURE drowning in a tidal wave of fab fabric. But.....
Look What I Made!
In ONE night!!
(sorry the pic sucks....it's from my phone)
I even got started on a second one too. It's the first thing I have made from a physical pattern. Everything else I've ever made, was just by looking at a dress or skirt the girls already owned and winging it.
Thanks to some of my sweet, sew fabulous, Twitter friends (Julie, Lisa, Ashley) I was pointed in the right direction for CUTE, and easy to follow patterns for little girls. This is the Peasant Top from Whimsy Couture. (You can buy it on Etsy HERE) She's doing a giveaway of pattern tutorials if you follow her blog or add her button right now...so GO!
Seriously - if you have a pair of scissors and can sew in a straight line...you can make this! I added the center ruffle and bling buttons to the front because I wanted to dress it up. This is what the girls are going to wear in our photo shoot with Tonya Joy today! Their also gonna have on blue jeans and possibly a funky hair accessory made from the same white shantung...if I can figure that out next! The pattern also shows you how to make the sleeves longer and/or elasticized around the arms. I think my girls are going to be wearing LOTS of these...
Another great find was Sew Sensible! I'm going to attempt her FAITH double layer dress top next. Stay tuned! I'm thinking Haute Tots might fill up with cute little creations made from my sea of fabric! That means I would get to buy more! I already {heart} THIS and THIS.... I could spend a life's fortune at Sew Love Fabrics. Dangerous!

Have you seen Heather Ross' Weekend Sewing book? Apparently easy patterns and GORGEOUS stuff. If I had any free time, I would take up sewing :)
