It's no secret I love to plan events. Any excuse to pick a theme and run with it is fine by me! Birthday's around here are no small fetes. Not especially cause I think Birthdays should be a big deal. Mostly because I can't help myself. This weekend I obsessed on three different events I have in the works. Molly's 6th Birthday, a Baby Shower for Teresa & baby Tyler, and the 2011 Glass Slipper Guild Gala.
I am on the board of the Glass Slipper Guild, as well as on the Event Planning committee for the Gala. The Gala is our largest fundraiser of the year benefiting the neuroscience department of CHOC Children's. For 2011, we've chosen to forgo a "theme" and plan a classic and crisp event that focuses on the hospital and the children, as well as, "feels" like our guild of young, fun, philanthropic women!
It's an evening, outdoor, formal occasion at a private golf course. We want to create an atmosphere of neutral warmth, understated elegance, linen canopies, candlelight, succulents, manzanita branches...all with pops of lime green and plum! We are drawing inspiration from this HWTM blog post {love}, Molly Wood's garden design, and Amy Atlas' buffets. Sprinkles has already generously agreed to donate all the cupcakes for our dessert buffet that night! YUM.

My "job" right now is to help our graphic designer develop the Save The Dates and Invitations for the event. A piece of paper that will go out to around 5000 invitees and set the tone for one of the best evenings all year!
Here's the storyboard I developed for the graphic designer as a "jumping off" place for him to begin the Save The Date design. What do you think? Does it make you want to come to the party? Does it portray all the "elements" of the event I described above? I hope so!
