I have Photoshop Elements 6 and I LOVE IT! I tried the full photoshop for a while but it was too complicated. I don't know if you've used Elements before but it is really the perfect photo editor for people that want to retouch photos without having to spend two years learning how to use a new program. I hope Santa is good to you this year- you deserve it!
