Nike and Apple have teamed up to take over the world. (At least my little piece of it anyway.)
I have long been in a Love/Hate relationship with running. I love the way I feel after I run. I love the choices I make when running is a part of my daily routine. I love getting stronger, going farther, working harder each time I run. I love pushing through the pain. I hate the way I feel right before (as well as 10 minutes into) my run. I hate the way I turn beet red and sweat like a dog when I run. I hate sports bras and annoying earphones that never stay put. I hate pushing through the pain. It's weird how this Yin & Yang can get addictive. The hate motivates me to get out there and just do it, so that I can feel the love.
I've been running up a storm these past two weeks. Hitting the treadmill twice a day. It's been fun and it feels good. The ever decreasing number greeting me on the scale each morning is also quite nice. What wasn't nice was my running shoes however. Sad, Sad, Sad! When I stopped to think about it, I figured they were somewhere in the vicinity of TEN YEARS OLD!! So last night, I busted out and bought a new pair of Nike+ running shoes (Pink ones no less!) Have you heard of these?! I'm in love.
These shoes have a little pocket under the insole where a sensor fits. As you run, the sensor sends information to your iPod in real time - your pace, distance, calories burned. There is a menu where you can choose how you want to run. An open-ended workout, or one with time, distance, or calorie goals. After your run, you sync the sensor to your laptop and it automatically uploads your run to www.nikeplus.com where you can compare it to all your past workouts, join challenges, set goals....the list goes on.
For my OCD self, this invention is genius. I'm such a gold star girl. Give me a chart and I will fill it with pride. Knowing that quitting my run early would result in a blemish on my progress graph is all this Type A girl needs to push through. Well....that and my theme song.
Speaking of, I've yet to mention the BEST FEATURE EVER...You can program a "PowerSong" to play with just a click of a button when you need instant motivation. Seriously? A Theme Song at my fingertips? This thing was made for me. Now I just need to decide which song to use. Prince, Belinda, Garth (and dare I admit, Wilson Phillips) have all helped me break thru the wall this week...
Laura's suggestion of JT's SexyBack is currently topping the list. Because really...Why else am I running like a mad woman other than to bring my SexyBack?!

I have this and it is the BEST THING EVER! Did you know that every time you set a new distance record someone comes on and says "COngratulations, that was your longest run to date!"...I love it! :)
Omigosh. You are too cute. I have to see you soon.
Twice in one day? Now that's what I call DETERMINED!!! Way to go Erin, keep it up :) And those shoes sound awesome!
only way I ran a half marathon
omgoodness! those shoes sound awesome!! i am a gold star girl as well..i laughed when i read this. so me! well i am excited for you! isnt it the best feeling to be sticking to something and seeing the payoff?
I just heard a song on the disney radio station and it made me think of you running on that treadmill . . . Miley Cyrus' "The Climb". I'm not a big fan of her, but that's a great song!
I know exactly what you mean. I hate the first 10 minutes of every run then I love it once I push past it.
I can't wear the Nike shoes. I overpronate so badly that I have to wear super stability control shoes or I end up with immediate shin splints. Sucks bc I've been dying to try those out but I can only use Saucony shoes!
I have seen these shoes lately too and I SOOOO want a pair. They look awesome. What a team Nike and Apple make.... What will the come up with next?
