Even when I have eleventy zillion other things to accomplish...nothing beats an afternoon turning pages.
Or a late evening!
And YES...I read about more than just Vampires and Miley romances.
My book club is celebrating our Silver Book-iversary this week!
25 books read and discussed (over good food and good wine!) together.
WOW. So fun.
Even more fun?
I get to pick our next book!
I have a few ideas...but was wondering if YOU had any suggestions for me?!
Read anything GOOD lately?
Something you couldn't put down and thought about even after you were done.
Those are the kind of books I love!
Here are some of our recent picks.
(Apparently, I {heart} cute socks too!)

ahh...i'm gonna keep checking comments on this one cause i need some new reading inspiration!! i'm gonna check out some of the ones in the picture too!
Our book group loved The Book Thief. A little long but it was a really uplifting book.
How about The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society. It is sooo wonderfully written, with characters who feel like friends, and it is about a book club that is formed on the Island of Guernsey ( England ) during the German occupation in WWII. You'll love it ! Betsy
Or Shanghi Girls by Lisa See
or God on a Harley
or Sacred Hearts by Sarah Dunant
or Pope Joan ( wonderful ! )
. . .
You know I love Barbara Kingsolver;
The Bean Trees, Poisenwood Bible, etc. She has written a new novel about Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera and more Great Read. It's called The Lacuna.
P.S. Duh! Who's in charge? Wyatt, that's who!
I absolutely loved the book "trouble" by Gary D. Schmidt. This book has so many layers you could read it 12 times and get something new every time, but it also teaches so much too! I couldn't put it down!

After the Bible of course, there are 3 books I highly recommend....
#1 The Shack by William P. Young. You can get copies at www.amazon.com for $7.95 new or 3.42 used....a great read at a good bargain!
#2 The Bride by Rhonda Calhoun. It is allegory based upon the Song of Solomon. This book spoke volumes to me on my journey with God. It can be purchased through the Forerunner Bookstore at www.ihop.org
#3 One Night With the King by Tommy Tenney. It is an allegory based on the book of Esther. Awesome!! There was a movie made based on this book that is good, but it pales in comparison to the original book of Esther and this allegory.
Ok have fun ladies! I look forward to seeing what your pick is!
Too Small to Ignore by Wess Stafford (president of Compassion Internation.) THIS BOOK SHOULD BE A MOVIE.
Crazy Love by Francis Chan Awesome, easy to read, convicting.
no suggestions here... but more time reading is on my to-do list this year. a book club sounds fun, any suggestions on how to start one?
