Inspired by NieNie's post - I decided to throw a "Back To School Eve" Party for our family. I prepared a feast for Sunday night's dinner to honor the girls. Megan as she gets ready to start another year, and Molly as she gets ready to start her first!
The picture of Nie's daughter, Jane, and her crown was just too much. Her smile made it so that I had to make crowns for my two students to be.
We ate outside. Which I thought was quite fitting for an end of Summer feast. We probably wont have many more dinners outside after this. The table was set with white linens, fresh flowers from our garden, our wedding china and sterling silver.
The festivities began just as the sun set. We opened a bottle of sparkling wild berry lemonade and poured it into pretty stemmed glasses. My two little princesses were in heaven!
I also loved how the Nielson's had a Family Theme for the 2008-2009 school year. The Burns Family came up with one of our own. The bird reminded me of Nie and I had to add it to the ribbon.
We dined on salmon, angel hair pasta with pesto made from the basil in our garden, roasted heirloom tomatoes, and Caesar salad. Since I had an abundance of apples on hand, for dessert I made warm Apple Crisp with vanilla ice cream.
Mom and Dad made toasts, the girls talked about what they desired to learn in school this year, and we all planned goals on how to DO OUR BEST. Megan is going to do her best at "listening to my teachers and doing just what they say." Molly is going to do her best at "everything." Wyatt is going to do his best at being Mommy's Bubba Lubs.
Even tho he's pretty darn good at it already!

After dinner, all three kids got in the bath and rub a dubbed themselves squeaky clean. As she was washing her hair, Megan said to me "Thanks for making that party for us, Mom. Excellent work!" It was the perfect ending to one of the better nights we've had around the table.
Thank You Nie for the inspiration. You and your clan are in my daily prayers. Godspeed back to your little ones!

You are a superstar mom! Good luck at school girls!
Wow, and to think I just took Josh to "school" with nothing but a hug and a kiss! I think I want to come be adopted by you!
Erin, I just ADORE you!
