A Different Kind of Present
Today is my 34th Birthday.
This also happens to be my 700th post here at Bringing Up Burns!
I've been trying to think of a fun, creative way to commemorate these two events, without making it too much about ME. I love to party as much as the next girl (really, it's the planning of the party that I thrive on!) But as I grow up (yes I'm still doing that) I find that celebrating being another year older loses it's allure unless there is something sweet to balance out the sour. I don't feel old by any means. But what's there to hoot and holler about over turning 34?
35, maybe.
40...for sure there will be a BASH.
But 34? Yawn.
So here's what I've come up with.
A reason we ALL can party!
I have some very generous (and crafty) friends who have helped me put together a fabulous "Birthday Bundle" to giveaway! All the items are handmade with love and total more than $150!! To win the bundle, you are going to have to make my Number One Birthday Wish come true...give me a "different kind of present..."
I wish for 34 people to donate $13.10 to PCRF in honor of my half marathon efforts (13.1 miles) at age 34!
Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation is very near and dear to my heart. If you've read Bringing Up Burns for awhile, you may remember some of my previous posts. My involvement with PCRF was sparked by Erin Vallely and her fight (that she eventually lost at age 12) with pediatric cancer. Erin's been in Heaven now longer than she was with us...but I am still close with her family and her memory is very much alive!
I'm running the PCRF Cinco de Mayo half-marathon on May 2nd. It will be my first 13.1 mile race! It's my hope, that my half marathon efforts and "Very Merry UN-Birthday Party for the Kids Giveaway" will help raise $$ for PCRF, so that kids like Erin can enjoy many more Birthdays to come! Want to help me?
Here's what you might win!!
A customized Birthday Invitation design from MLK Designs!

A celebratory Hooray! chalkboard from Joy's Hope.
A Cupcake Connoisseuer hand stamped sterling silver necklace from Angel Face Designs

Thank You in advance for helping PCRF and making my 34th Birthday the best yet! I have already been surprised today with gorgeous wrapped gifts, pots of lavender for my garden, new running clothes (in BLUE...my next Nike+ color!) and a gorgeous sunrise as Kim & I pounded the pavement this morning.
Tonight Mateo's skipping his softball game to take me out to dinner and to see Miley in The Last Song.
